Privacy, explained clearly.

This page explains what information may be handled when you visit our website, contact us, or ask about a residential appraisal—and how to reach us with a privacy question.

Last updated October 16, 2026

Capital Valuations (“we,” “us,” or “our”) provides residential appraisal services in Virginia. This notice describes information connected with this website and appraisal inquiries. The information needed for an appraisal can vary based on the property, the assignment, and its intended use.

Information we handle

When you contact us: The website inquiry form asks for your name, email address, phone number, reason for the appraisal, property address, city, and a short message. If you call, text, or email us, we receive the information you choose to share in that communication.

For an appraisal assignment: If you hire us, we may handle information needed to understand, complete, and document the assignment. Depending on the assignment, that may include property details, assignment instructions, relevant records or documents, communications, and billing or transaction details.

When you use the website: The website and tools that support it may receive technical information such as browser and device type, pages viewed, referring page, and the date and time of a visit. Cookies or similar technologies may be used by the website or its tools.

How we use information

We use information for ordinary business purposes connected with our website and appraisal work, including to:

  • Reply to questions and appraisal inquiries.
  • Discuss the property, appraisal purpose, intended use, timing, scope, and fee.
  • Perform and document an agreed appraisal assignment and deliver the report to its intended recipient.
  • Communicate with you and keep appropriate business, billing, and assignment records.
  • Operate and maintain the website, understand website traffic, and support website features.
  • Address security issues, disputes, legal obligations, or professional recordkeeping needs.

Cookies, analytics, and review features

Google Analytics 4: We automatically use Google Analytics to measure visits, traffic sources, pages viewed, successful appraisal inquiry submissions, and clicks on our call, email, and text links. A link click indicates an attempt to contact us, not a completed call, message, or appraisal order. Our custom lead events use the form number, contact method, and page URL without query strings. They do not read or send your name, email address, phone number, property address, or message from the form. Google receives technical and usage data under its privacy notice. Advertising consent and advertising personalization are disabled in our tracking configuration.

Microsoft Clarity: Clarity automatically records how pages are used, including clicks, scrolling, navigation, heatmaps, and session replays, so we can improve usability and our appraisal inquiry process. Clarity uses cookies and similar technologies and processes device, browser, page, and interaction information. Form fields and form response areas are masked; our code does not pass contact details or form messages to Clarity. Recordings are not loaded on URLs containing query strings or fragments as an additional precaution. See the Microsoft Privacy Statement for information about Microsoft's handling of data.

Automatic analytics: Analytics starts automatically when you visit, subject to browser privacy controls and regional restrictions. Measurement may be limited or use cookieless signals where analytics cookies are restricted. If you previously rejected analytics on this website, that saved preference continues to be honored for its original period of up to 180 days. A Global Privacy Control signal keeps these analytics tools off. You can also manage cookies and tracking through your browser settings or privacy tools. Blocking future tracking does not delete information already processed by a provider.

Cookies and similar technologies may help the website function and help measure how visitors use it. You can adjust cookie settings in your browser. Blocking cookies may affect some website features.

The website displays Google reviews through a third-party review feature. When these tools are enabled or embedded on a page, their providers may receive technical or usage information when the page or feature loads. Those providers handle information under their own privacy notices. See Google’s Privacy Policy.

Third-party services have their own policies.

A review, analytics, map, or other outside feature may connect your browser to its provider. We don’t control how an outside provider handles information once its service is used.

When information may be shared

Information may be handled by service providers that support the website or our business, such as website hosting and maintenance, communications, spam prevention, analytics, review features, or payment and bookkeeping services. We may also disclose information when needed to provide a service you request, respond to lawful process, meet a legal or professional obligation, protect safety or rights, or resolve a dispute.

If you use a separate payment service, that provider’s terms and privacy notice apply to the payment information you give it. We may keep transaction details needed for business records.

How long information is kept

We keep information for the time reasonably needed for the purpose it was collected, including responding to an inquiry, completing an appraisal assignment, maintaining business records, or addressing a legal, professional, or dispute-related need. The time may differ depending on the information and the assignment.

Your choices and privacy requests

You may contact us to ask about information connected with your inquiry or request a correction or deletion. Whether a request can be completed may depend on the information involved and any business, legal, or professional recordkeeping needs. Where a privacy law applies, we will handle requests as that law requires.

Email joe@capitalvaluationsva.com with “Privacy Request” in the subject line, or call (757) 831-6234. Please include enough detail for us to understand your request. We may ask for information needed to verify your identity before responding.

If a law that applies to your request provides an appeal right, you may reply to our response and ask us to review our decision.

Security and children’s privacy

We take reasonable steps intended to protect information we handle. No website, email transmission, or electronic storage method can be guaranteed completely secure. Please don’t send highly sensitive information through the general inquiry form or ordinary email unless we have arranged an appropriate way to receive it.

This website is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly seek personal information online from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us so we can look into it.
